We took a day trip to Brookside Gardens a few weeks ago and were amazed at the beautiful grounds and what there was to see in spite of it being the dog days of summer. We have already posted on their butterfly garden and on their list of gardens. We will concentrate on their roses today. They have a superb walled rose garden with benches and shade.
We will take you further on the tour in another post. (And I will take my notebook out to record all the names of the roses. DH didn’t keep the name plaques with the roses, so I can’t tell you what each one is).
What are you doing in these dog days? We are harvesting cantaloupes and tomatoes at a frenzied pace. We are feeding 15 mouths in our neighborhood alone with surplus tomatoes and cantaloupes. They are the best they have ever been. We owe this to watering every other day! This is where I want to remind all of you gardeners to remember those less fortunate than us and take your bounty to your local food pantry. All of the ones I have called in my area will take fresh produce. Best to you all!
